Diaper Cakes

Since my cousin's baby shower last November, I have been advertising on Craigslist for custom diaper cakes. I had so much fun making them! I hope I can continue to get orders!

Valentine Fun

We had a good day. We started out putting window clings on the slider door. Gwyneth loves putting them up for every holiday. I always try to buy them after the holiday when they are on sale. Plan on going out tomorrow to get more.

Next we had heart shaped pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream. A few m&m's and chocolate chips might have slipped through though. Yummy!

For the rest of the day we made Valentine's. She got new stickers so she worked on putting the inside a heart outline.

We did a rubbing of the heart shaped tin of chocolates I got and put her hand cutouts on it. Then we crumpled tissue paper squares and glued them around the edge.

Then she went to town with the foam stickers. We had a good time.

To top off our great day, Bryan brought home beautiful flowers and chocolates for Gwyn and I. Then Ken brought home some orange roses and chocolate. Ended the evening with some sweetheart steaks on the grill.

Christmas 2011

Got together with friends so we could take holiday pics of the kids. These were some good ones of Gwyn and Leo.

Haven't posted in a while...

A lot has happened this year, and now that we are settling into routines and such, I have more time to post and share our adventures in Hawaii. Here are a few pics to catch up with.

Dole Plantation

While my mother-in-law was here we visited the Dole Plantation in Wahiawa.  It is an easy place to go to, fairly inexpensive.  The have a huge gift store with many local crafts (many of which you can get at the Swap Meet at the Aloha Stadium if you have time to go), and a great restaurant (a bit pricey but good).  They also have a Garden Tour, a train ride on the Pineapple Express, and a Maze (didn't do that one). 

The koi fish pond is a free attraction, and a big hit, though you have to pay 50 cents for fish food.  Gwyn absolutely loved them.

 

We purchased tickets to go into the garden on an audio tour and for the train. Not bad prices either.  $11 per adult.  Gwyn would see the train engine as we went around curves and yell out "I found it!"

Did you know that the red dirt in Hawaii is decomposed volcanic ash?  I never knew that.  Also, no other crop grows well in it besides pineapples.  Thought that was interesting.

The pineapple photo cutouts are a free attraction as well, so if you wanted to visit Dole without paying any money, you can still do some fun things.  Gwyn thought they were funny.

The garden is worth paying for if you want great pics of your family.  Ideal setting for a photo op. And great flowers.  Gonna have to go back when more is in bloom!
